Claude Code and the Skill Question
Debate around Claude Code has quietly crossed an inflection point. Claude Code rewards clarity, structure, and disciplined thinking, accelerating outcomes for people who already understand what they want to build. For others, vague prompting produces novelty without direction, inviting the slot machine metaphor now circulating online. That image captures a real temptation but exaggerates its reach. History offers a steadier frame. Spreadsheets, compilers, and search engines followed the same arc, amplifying competence while exposing its absence. Claude Code fits that lineage. The critique is largely fair. AI agents magnify capability, and they reveal, rather than resolve, the difference between intention and drift.
