Readers value such traits because they echo older lessons about courtesy and attentiveness. A later Forbes essay by Tomas Chamorro Premuzic challenges the belief that raw authenticity earns trust. His argument shows that people carry many selves and good judgment rests on knowing which one a moment calls for. Likability opens doors through ease and kindness, while measured authenticity sustains responsibility. The Delphic counsel to know oneself gains force here, for self knowledge includes limits, strengths, and the discipline to choose wisely.
