Archaeologists now argue that wealthy families in ancient Pompeii raised elegant towers above their villas, and digital reconstructions suggest commanding views, painted interiors, and rooftop leisure rooms that announced social power. Scholars note that such towers collapsed during the eruption and left only scattered traces, so modeling helps restore a sense of how elite households shaped the skyline.
